BJCP Regions

The BJCP is organized into regions for administrative purposes per the BJCP Bylaws. Members within each region elect a Regional Representative to serve a three-year term on the BJCP Board of Directors. This page describes the current regional distribution, which is changed from time to time by the Board, as well as the regional election cycle.

In 2019, the BJCP Board voted to add three new international regions: Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA). These regions were created from the previous Northeast region that contained all international judges except western Canada. Canada will remain split between the North and Northeast regions. To further balance regions in North America, Nevada was moved from the Mountain/Northwest Region to the West Region.

Note: These maps and the following listing of states, countries, and dependent territories are for the purpose of providing a general approximation of BJCP regions. They are not meant to accurately depict any specific national, state, or political boundaries. The text listing is not comprehensive in nature and is limited to locations where BJCP members currently reside. Judges should refer to their online judge record to determine their assigned region. The first letter in the BJCP Judge ID (e.g. “A1234”) corresponds to the regions that existed when and where a judge took their first judging exam and does not change if regions change or a judge moves. In other words, a judge can move to a new state and change regions, but their BJCP ID number will never change.
