BJCP Appoints Communications Director

The BJCP board has appointed Andrew Melchers for the role of Communications Director. Andrew steps into the role from Dennis Mitchell, who maintained the position while also acting as BJCP President. In the role, Andrew will work to lead the organization’s efforts in communications with members, including content and organization of the BJCP Website, producing the quarterly newsletter, maintaining a presence on social media, responding to and/or routing general inquiries about the BJCP, and electronically posting content of interest regarding the BJCP. Other areas of responsibility include overseeing elections, member badge orders and the member merchandise store.

Andrew has been homebrewing since 2004, and is a nearly twenty-year member of Bloatarian Brewing League (BBL) in Cincinnati, Ohio, having recently served a double term as President and too many years as ‘Minister of Propaganda’ (club communications). He is a National rank judge, has served as exam director, proctor, and led BJCP training classes, along with organizing numerous competitions over the years, including Beer & Sweat, “the largest keg-only homebrew competition in the world!”  When he’s not brewing Saison or Porter, or enjoying a local craft, he’s probably out running trail ultramarathons. In his day job, he is Director of Marketing and Communications for a boutique Financial Advisory firm.
