After a successful roll out of Bravo on September 8th – BJCP IT department has been busier than ever with making some major updates. Most of these are behind the scenes – some visible to Exam Admins, some visible to Competition Organizers but most visible only to various directorates within BJCP. Here is a brief summary:
This period focused on strengthening the Exams, Competitions, and Judges systems, improving automation, performance, and reliability.
### Key Improvements
• Major enhancements to Exam and Examinee management, including better validations, proctor handling, entrance exam certificate auto-linking, and rank promotion logic.
• Expanded competition tools, including calendar upgrades, XML validation, BOS handling, retroactive points reassignment improvements, and payment refinements.
• Improved judge management, with better filters, reports, international support, and “Goes By” name integration.
• Strengthened email handling, payments, and pin ordering, including international expansion.
• Added multiple security fixes and stability improvements, reducing crashes and tightening permissions.
Overall – the platform became more robust, with more automation, better data integrity, and improved efficiency.
In addition, a number of major projects are being worked on as of right now. As they say in software world – they are in “stealth mode” right now but you will hear about them as we deploy them in near future.
On the operational side – we are thrilled to welcome Tom Hayosh as an Assistant IT Director. He has literally hit the ground running and made tremendous contributions to Bravo in recent months. Welcome Tom!
As before – we remain responsive to emails and other requests from IT with the objective of 24 hour turn around on any requests/questions/issues. Meanwhile, once IT gets the data to process, turn around time on Exam closings and Promotions has been under 24 hours (as it was before Bravo release) and going forward, we remain committed to this 24 hour turn around time.
