The Competition Director is responsible for managing and running the AHA/BJCP Sanctioned Competition Program. Specific duties include:
- Overseeing the sanctioned competition program
- Registering and sanctioning competitions
- Enabling successful competitions by encouraging development of tools and software packages
- Enforcing BJCP competition policies
- Ensuring that the competitions have an appropriate set of objective measurements to which to judge
- Ensuring that organizer reports are filed and that participants receive credit for their efforts
- Resolving conflicts with organizers and judges and entrants when they arise and referring these to the regional representatives as appropriate
- Bringing appropriate issues or actions to the attention of the Board for action or concurrence
- Working closely with the IT Director to ensure that the IT needs of competition management are met
- Working closely with the Communications Director to ensure that competitions and competition affairs are properly posted
